Rubgy news
With the second round of this year’s Six Nations just around the corner there are plenty of Irish rugby stories floating about the internet:
- Bob Dwyer is in the Irish Independent saying that the players have no attention to detail. (via IrishRugby)
[Dwyer] pointed a finger firmly at those in charge, principally coach Eddie O’Sullivan…From what I heard from inside the Irish camp during that World Cup all Eddie is concerned about is, ‘You don’t do this and you don’t do that. You may take wrong options’.
“But that is an entirely incorrect way of coaching. And certainly, there doesn’t seem to be any attention to detail in the Irish play. I mean, how flat are they? They are far too flat…. But the Australian is also a fierce critic of the limitations of scrum half Eoin Reddan, remarkably named man of the match against Italy at the weekend. “He stands up with the ball in his hands after collecting it from the scrum or ruck base.
- Also in the Indepedent comes the news that Brian O’Driscoll has talked about the public disquiet with the team.
- Some good news; Jerry Flannery has had his suspension reduced from eight to four weeks. This means he will be available for Ireland’s last three matches.
- On the telly front it appears that the outbursts of a certain tv pundit are gaining international attention.
